We constantly emphasise the importance of submitting an XML sitemap to the search engines. It’s an easy way to inform Google, Bing and Yahoo! about which pages should be crawled and indexed for your website. But is having a HTML sitemap on your website still relevant?
This question was posed to Mr Google, Matt Cutts, recently who (as always) answered in a short video.
Basically he says, yes, website sitemaps are certainly still a relevant for website. Not only are they good for your website visitors to easily navigate around your site, but they are help your search results success also.
Matt says that although there popularity is slowly dwindling, HTML sitemaps can be a fantastic way to distribute page rank throughout your site. Matt explains more in the video below.
