Now, thanks to technology and some very clever people, we have a range of tools that do the hard work for us.
To save you the effort of finding the right tools to spy on your competitors – I’ve listed my Top 10 competitor tools below (in no particular order). If you’re serious about SEO – you need to add these to your SEO arsenal.
Some are free, some offer free trials, some will charge nominal monthly fees – all are worth exploring.

I just ‘Stumbled Upon’ your article. Thanks for posting this – there were a couple here I was unaware of. I second Spyfu – great service.
Another good one that I use all the time is SEMrush (http://semrush.com/?ref=424437869). It isn’t free, but well worth the $200 a year for all the insight it provides. Among other things, it allows the user to identify all the keyword phrases that a site ranks for in google, and easy export to Excel. It also offers tools to determine a site’s PPC keyword activities.
