bing-logo-1When I first posted how to setup a Bing local listing, we had a ton of feedback from our UK readers who pointed out that the Bing local listing center was only accepting US based businesses.

While UK listings were showing in search results, this was sourced from other data providers and it didn’t appear there was any way to get your information included.

Well, thanks to one of our loyal readers, now it appears you can! Daniel pointed out that Microsoft gets UK local business listings from a company called Market Location.

Here’s a screenshot from multimap.com (owned by Bing) on how to get your business listed:

Just to confirm, you simply need to visit http://www.marketlocation.com/changereq/ and add your details!

There’s been a bit of discussion on the issue over at the Bing community forums, and some readers have confirmed the inclusion of previously unlisted businesses by using the form above.

So if you’ve got a UK business, add your details with the form above and leave a comment if you get included!

That’s an unusual link, Matt, through to MarketLocation. The resulting page is totally anonymous, no mention of Bing or Multimap.

No mention on the Market Location home page either.

Are you sure this is OK?

Hi Richard,

From all accounts this appears to be working. Here’s a link to the Bing community forums where a member claims to have had some success with this form:

It’s also received some coverage across other blogs and sites so give it a go and let me know if you get included!

Good to hear it is working for you! :)

Great that you’ve pointed out this tip about Bing local but I am a little wary. To me it all looks like an exercise in harvesting data to subsequently sell on. The company website says nothing of Bing which sets alarm bells ringing for me. I’d be interested to know if those that have signed up have subsequently been deluged with spammy calls, post or emails?

Cheers,

David

I’ve added my details to an application form for http://www.medishop.co.uk with the anchor text of Supplements , and we’ll see how I get on.

Rest assured I’ll update this forum.

Thanks, John.
