Can you believe it? Yahoo! is beating Google in search engine market share!
No, this is not some cruel prank, its true… well in Japan at least! Based on comScore’s latest data, Yahoo! sites hold a 51.3% share of all searches conducted in Japan, while Google is significantly weaker with a 38.2% share. Actually, Google have dropped from 39% in September 2008.
So while Google continues to dominate…
The search numbers for November 2008 have been released after a large amount of search activity during the month. Overall search queries rose as a result of the U.S. elections and financial crisis, while Google’s search share climbed even higher to a record 70.8%.
As we’ve seen in previous years, this also means that other search sites dropped slightly. One of the more significant changes I’ve noticed is…

A new report just released by Efficient Frontier has shown that Google continues in its dominance over Yahoo! and MSN with Google now holding 77.4% of the search ad market.
For every new dollar spent on search ads in 2008 over 2007, Google received $1.10; while Yahoo lost $0.09 and Microsoft lost $0.01.

Yahoo! Answers showed the biggest difference, with 49% of its U.S. traffic coming from Google in June, while only 20%…

Google really is the world’s biggest search engine! This fact has been further cemented by recent statistics released by ComScore showing that Google commanded 79% of searches across Europe in March 2008.
There seems to be no threat to Google by Yahoo and Microsoft in Europe as they currently hold fourth and fifth place with both only claiming around 2% of market share.
It is interesting to note that…

Its official: there was an eruption of search volume last month!
March saw the biggest month-over-month increase in total search volume since July 2007 with total queries increasing over 6% and surpassing the 9 billion mark according to Compete.com.
What is surprising however is that Google was the underperformer this time, with its market share actually dropping by more than 1/2 a percent.
Let’s take a look at the…
Search engine giant Google just keeps getting more and more popular.
The latest figures from Hitwise, which tracks search market share, show Google with a record 66 percent share of Web searches in the United States for December 2007.
Google had just over 63 percent share for the same period a year ago, according to figures released on Tuesday 8th January. Meanwhile, Yahoo!’s share dropped 0.7 percent to 20.9…
