Cool, thanks for sharing these tips. One thing I personally find helpful for DIY exposure to my business is creating short videos that people will want to share and uploading them to YouTube, Veoh, AdWido, and other video sites online. You could possibly get tons of exposure if you can pull off a really good video.

I guess I was expecting more specific advise, tell me something I don’t already know. Yes your ranking depends on having to and from links, that is one of the main drivers. The question is how do you get these links as small business owner. Telling me to be creative is beating on a dead horse.
