After months and months of speculation, Bing UK have finally confirmed their procedure for getting your business listed in Bing UK local search results.
As we first uncovered back in November last year, Bing UK are using a third party data provider to source information for their local listings in Bing Maps. Here’s the full rundown from their official listing website,
Bing works with a third party which uses a variety of sources including regular calls to businesses directly to ensure that our listings data is as accurate as possible. Your information then shows up in Bing through Instant Answers, Local Search and Maps. You can at any time add new listings or request updates to your data such as new telephone numbers or websites by filling out a request form online. You will be called back to complete the update by phone. It really is that simple!
Our previous post invited users to visit http://www.marketlocation.com/changereq/ to add their details, but this now redirects to a company called “118 Information” which confirms their association with Bing local listings.
The new official URL for submitting your UK business information to Bing is as follows: http://bing.my118information.co.uk/default.aspx?id=-1
Here’s a screenshot from the 118 Information site confirming their affiliation with Bing UK,

While it’s a little messy for webmasters to visit a third party company instead of adding their information directly on Bing Maps, it’s good to see Bing have finally confirmed a solution for UK business owners.

I have just spent over an hour trying to submit our business to Bing uk. What a fuss and palaver, what a bunch of amateurs, no wonder their share of search is so paltry, with competition like this Google have no worries whatsoever. Bing really need to get their act together. How on earth did Bill gates ever end up as one of the richest men in the world ? Disgruntled, just a tad
