Yahoo! Steps onto Google’s Turf with New Analytics Product

Posted by @ 9:48 pm

It’s only taken 6 months but Yahoo! has finally done something with their purchase of IndexTools and it could be a little troubling for Google.

Yahoo has announced that they will begin to roll out Yahoo Web Analytics on a limited basis beginning this week.

Yahoo! Web Analytics provides website owners with insight into sales, ad performance and traffic sources through real-time reports and graphs.

Although it is very similar to Google Analytics many have described IndexTools as being a more superior product – good news for Yahoo!

Yahoo! outlines why this new product is more superior to the competition (Google Analytics) in its FAQ:

  • Real-time Data: “While some analytics products provide data 24-48 hours after collection, Yahoo! Web Analytics reflects data within minutes of collection.”
  • Raw Data: “While some products store aggregated data, which restricts the usefulness of the data to pre-created or canned reports, Yahoo! Web Analytics stores data in non-aggregatedraw form.”
  • Ease-of-Use and Flexibility

Yahoo! Web Analytics will be available for free to 13,000 e-commerce customers hosting under the Yahoo Small Business service and then the rest of us will have to wait until late 2008 or even 2009 to use it.

If you would like to know more about Yahoo! Web Analytics just visit the Yahoo! site here.
