Where Will Google Place Ads Next? Under Google Maps

Google’s revenue stream has just received a potentially big boost with the placement of new AdSense ads underneath maps on Google Maps.

The ads don’t appear on all maps searches, which makes me wonder if this is simply a test at this stage.

The example below is from a search I conducted in Google Maps of “New York Doctor” which shows a text ad at the bottom of the ad for Madison Medical Practice.

Unlike Local Business Ads that appear to the left of the map, which take you to the map “popup” for that advertiser, clicking on these new ads takes you straight to the advertiser’s website.

This new ad placement has only popped up in the last day so we will keep you posted on any further updates from Google. This new ad placement begs the question, where will Google put ads next?
