Highlighting its milestone achievements over the past decade, Google has released a 6 minute video that encompasses the evolution of search on Google as well as a sneak peak of what’s coming up next.
From the first creative search algorithm that caught the world’s eye, to AdWords — all the way to Google Instant and beyond, the video talks about everything.
“We wanted to share with you a short history of the evolution of search, highlighting some of the most important milestones from the past decade–and a taste of what’s coming next,” Google Fellow Ben Gomes wrote in a blog post.
The video depicts some important trends that explain how search evolved over the past ten years. The motive behind releasing this video is to answer all the questions that might have crossed your mind every time you saw something different in the way Google displayed the results.

Universal Results: With the universal search –results feature which returns results like images, videos, and news, in addition to web pages—Google wanted to help users find all different kinds of information in the same place. With universal results Google tried make search more complete, that included products, places, patents, books, maps results and more.
Quick Answers: With Quick answers Google wanted to take search beyond the search query – list of relevant websites relationship and thus started including results for questions that included information about a wide variety of topics, including flight times, sports scores, weather and dozens more and as technology evolved, Google started including answers to tougher questions like,, that too on the top of the first page results.
The Future of Search: Although Google has always focused on developing faster ways to search and save time, be it with Google Instant or assisting voice search through a phone searching should be as easy as thinking, and the future looks bright!
