Tim Mayer from Yahoo! Search has announced that the Yahoo! index now contains over 20 billion objects. To be exact, the Yahoo! index contains more than 19.2 billion web documents, 1.6 billion images and more than 50 million video and audio files.

Mayer also said to expect some ranking fluctuations over the next few weeks as the fine-tuning of the index was in progress.

While Yahoo! has always claimed that size matters less than relevancy, freshness, comprehensiveness and presentation, Yahoo! is certainly proud of its impressive index size.
