Users of the MSN Search Tool Bar would see a slightly different Internet Explorer. MSN Search Tool Bar Version 02.05.000.1082 adds in tabbed browsing functionality. It is only available if using the MSN Search Tool Bar.

Whilst this functionality has existed for a number of releases in Firefox, it is the first time that Microsoft have included this funtctionality in the market leading Internet Explorer.

Microsoft have called out that future version of Internet Explorer (such as the version to be released with Windows Vista) will included Tabbed Browsing as standard.

It is the first time since the “browsers wars” that Microsoft have been forced to play catch up in terms of features with another internet browsing. Further competition by Firefox will see Microsoft continue to innovate.
