Ask Jeeves just launched its own paid search program the other week. Nevertheless, Ask Jeeves’ CEO Steve Berkowitz said “We love the Google relationship. I can see it lasting forever” during his keynote speech of last week’s Search Engine Strategies conference in San Jose.
According to Berkowitz, the key focus for Ask Jeeves lies in creating direct relationships with advertisers – one thing the company was hardly doing while it was mainly displaying Google AdWords paid search ads. This means that Ask Jeeves is not committing to anything just yet for the time when their contract to display Google AdWords ads ends in 2007.
Who knows, after the acquisition of Ask Jeeves by IAC in July, there is a good chance that the brand name Ask Jeeves itself might no longer exist in 2007.
