Research: Online Advertising Will More Than Double by 2010

Posted by @ 11:53 pm

Online advertising sales are set to more than double from $9.3 billion last year to $18.9 billion in 2010, according to a new study by Jupiter Research.

Search engine marketing is expected to charge ahead with a compound annual growth of more than 12% each year. Rich media and streaming media advertising are expected to grow by compound annual rates of 25% and 30% respectively.

I have no doubt that the new technologies available for web delivery are going to further fragment the media markets (including the web – currently thought of as a homogenous mass).

Agencies and clients can now use a single channel engagement that takes people from a TV quality commercial to paying at the store without having to leave their chair.

We recently used Vividas technology for a virally “seeded” 2 minute mini movie

When you work back from the sale and compound traditional awareness building techniques through non traditional channels marketers can reach qualified consumers and then traffic them to the “shop-front” through carefully connected touch points creating a smooth, and efficient engagement.

Of course they can also measure each to determine ROI and consumer conversion ratios.

The way traditional media audiences are dropping marketers will pressure for further tech developments on the web so that not only revs but the criteria for online advertising will change.
