Personalize Your Own Google Map

Posted by @ 1:41 am

Google have been busy bees updating their Local and Map services of late – the most recent offering – personalized, customizable Google Maps! My Maps is a new feature of Google Maps that enables users to create, update, add rich content, and share personal maps online. Display placemarks , lines and shapes , and once created you can add photos, videos, rich text and HTML.

For individuals this is a fantastic way to display travels, local haunts, favourite restaurants and bars, concert events and even proposed journeys. Keep your Map to yourself or share it so others can see the world through your eyes.
Businesses can also utilize My Maps to display shipping routes, directions from one company location to another, images of stock items or introduce new services via video. The possibilities are endless and the maps exceedingly easy to use.

There is one thing to remember – keep your public maps SEO friendly with appropriate map titles, keyword rich descriptions and image tags, to take advantage of inclusion into the search results for both Google Maps and Google Earth! It’s a great way to gain free exposure for your business and have a little fun while doing it! Check out My Maps for yourself and let us know of any interesting ones you create!
