New Google Tool Lets Us Analyze Searchers

Google have launched a new tool that plans to make it easier for us all to understand searcher behavior.

Google Insights for Search is a tool which is an extension for Google Trends and AdWords, that allows users to track keywords across different verticals, geographic locations, and time periods.

Here is Googler’s Elan Dekel and Niv Efron’s explanation of Google Insights for Search:

Today, we’re launching Google Insights for Search, a new product designed with the advertiser in mind. It provides more flexibility and functionality for advertisers and marketers to understand search behavior, and adds some cool new features like a world heat map to graphically display search volume and regional interest.

Like Google Trends, you can just type in a search term to see search volume patterns over time, as well as the top related and rising searches. You’ll also have the ability to compare search volume trends across multiple search terms, categories (commonly referred to as verticals), geographic regions, or specific time ranges.

Google Insights for Search allows users to analyze search volume patterns more thoroughly because they can now specify what category their search term falls under (for example, Apple the computer company, or Apple, the fruit), and you can generate a heat map detailing where search queries are originating from.

Search Engine Journal’s Arnold Zafra produced a great heat map example when he compared search volumes for bathroom modeling vs. kitchen remodeling.

This will be a great tool for all of us to learn just what our potential customers are searching for at the moment. If you want to give it a go simply click here and sign into your Google account.
