For those of you who use the Bing Shopping portal, you will have noticed a few changes recently.
The recently upgraded portal promises a whole new online shopping experience including allowing you to link your shopping list back to Facebook to get a response from your friends. The Facebook link also gives you a quick reminder of any upcoming birthday while you shop.
One major change on Bing Shopping is that they have integrated all popular items like articles, products, leading brands and content on the new homepage right next to the top searches so that shoppers can quickly browse, research and decide on what they want to shop. Bing will also keep updating the shopping portal with top shopping articles that will give shoppers relevant information about the latest shopping trends on the search engine.
The layout of the result page has also been given an overhaul. You will now see a grid of large product images (with a pop-up containing product info, star ratings and reviews) on the search result page with a scroll bar along the width of the search result page containing products similar to your search so that you can scan and compare products simultaneously. This is a new feature that I love because it makes comparison shopping very easy.
I’m not sure how useful the sharing function with Facebook will be – personally I wouldn’t want my friends to critique what I plan to purchase.
I have a question for you – do you actually use the Bing shopping or Google Product search when making purchases online? I can’t say that I have ever used either of them so I am intrigued to hear other people’s experiences.
What do you think of the new Bing shopping? Do you actually use it already or will these improvements make you consider using it? Let us know in the comments section below.
