A few changes of the last couple of months have aroused our suspicions that Google wants to become more like Bing.
First there was the new design for the Google results page. Next was the ability to add a background to the Google homepage and now we see a newly designed Google Image Search that looks suspiciously familiar.
Let’s take a look at each of these separately.
Google re-designed its search engine results page in May this year. The most obvious design change was the introduction of the search options panel on the left side of the page making it look very similar to Bing.

In June, Google went one step closer to becoming like Bing by enabling searchers to add an image as the background to Google homepage.

This week Google released its new design for Image Search. The new design includes a tiled layout with instant scrolling between pages. The layout is a lot more minimalist than the old Google Image Search and you can see from the image below why it has been drawing comparisons with Bing Image Search.

What’s going on here Google? Jealous of the new search engine in town with a better design layout? It’s pretty clear that Bing has had some kind of influence on Google, what do you think? Feel free to share your thoughts below.

Good article, very informative. One has to agree that Google looks like it is following Bing in these ways.
