I hear you asking what”s a landing page? Good question… they are a must for pointing the traffic from your search marketing campaigns in the right direction on your site. Currently, you may have a search marketing campaign designed specifically for a selected product. So what”s the use in just dumping visitors at your homepage? This could just confuse the searcher.

Why do you need a landing page?
So that you can send your visitors to a page that is targeted to the specific product or service they are searching for. This makes it easier for the searcher to make their decision quickly and easily on your site.

What makes a good landing page?
Firstly, we need a good example to look at. Below is a landing page that our team created through our Easy Search Advertising program.

Here is what makes a good landing page:

1. Make it targeted.
Make sure your landing page talks about a specific product or service.

2. Keep it simple
The more text and general clutter your page has, the less likely someone will stay. A structured layout, like the example above, is a simple way for the landing page to remain clutter-free.

3. Have a clear call to action
Make it near impossible for your visitors to miss the action you want them to take on the page. This may be as simple as clicking on a link or completing a form. In our example, the website owner wants the visitor to submit their contact details with a clear “Start Here” and “Submit” button.

4. Keep branding in mind
While you want to keep your landing page simple and targeted, don”t forget branding. Not every visitor is going to buy your product/service, so make sure they see your company name and logo. This will act as a reminder when they are ready to purchase.

5. Test, test, test
This is a must for any landing page. You can test views, clicks and conversions as a start. You can then continue to make any changes necessary to keep your landing page a must-visit.

So there you have it, by creating a good landing page, you could be getting a lot more bang for your advertising buck.
