Hummingbird: Google’s Brand New Search Algorithm

Posted by @ 9:37 pm

The Hummingbird is what Google is calling their new algorithm system, which was announced on the eve of their 15th anniversary.

According to Google, Hummingbird has been created to give users faster query results. The algorithm was made by a semantic search that focuses on what the user wants instead of just the individual search terms.

It appears that the new algorithm was released 3 weeks before the official announcements. Unlike some of Google’s other search algorithm updates, Hummingbird is a complete replacement of the old algorithm Google used in the past. Google’s search chief Amit Singhal said that since a change in 2001, this is the most dramatic algorithm chance they have ever done.

Overall, the new algorithm has received positive reviews. Experts have stated that Google has made great improvements to handle more complex search engines. This means they have also highly developed their index entities in web documents.

Google’s amount of knowledge has great expanded because the new search engine is linking search queries and web documents together. This means that people can get a bigger variety of information.

Experts also warn that because of the new search engine algorithm, “quick-win” SEO methods are “now firmly in the past.” The new Google Algorithm relies heavily on major influencers sharing information through social media. Google recognizes that this will not happen overnight and it might take a while to build a relationship between the search engines, influencers and relationships. Only time will tell what the results truly are.
