Google’s Swift Response To Recent Criticism

So, Google do listen…and maybe aren’t so evil after-all (or are they?).
They’ve done a quick about-turn and removed promotion of their services from organic search results. Do a Google search for ‘blogging‘ today and there is no convenient mention of Blogger topping the results…same applies with a ‘calendar’ search that used to promote Google Calendar top of the organic results.
As pointed out in Rene’s blog “Google Starts 2007 on the Back Foot“, Google have maintained a mantra that should not have allowed for such blatant self-promotion. Obviously hoping to gain back trust, Google are now playing fair and square in the organic results, but have they forever lost some of their credibility? Do others also wonder how much manipulation really goes on behind the Google curtain?
