Google Updates Local Business Place Pages

Google have released an update to their local business ‘Place Pages’ which gives business owners the ability to post short updates to their pages. Google says these can be used to promote a new product, event or coupon.

Here’s an example of what the new feature looks like on a business listing:

I can see this feature being especially useful for restaurants that will get a lot of traffic to their place page and may use this to promote daily specials to customers looking online.

Google have also introduced badges for place pages that have been claimed and verified by the owner of the business. This helps to show customers that the business information is very accurate as it’s been updated by the business owner directly.

Here’s an example of the new badges:

Local search and business place pages seem to be a growing area of importance for Google, so make sure you’ve got a Google local business listing!

Does anyone know if Google Place Pages are working in the UK yet?

There is a “Coupons” section in the Local Business Center but no way to post onto a Google Place Page.

Your help would be appreciated, thanks

Hello,
We have outdated website information on Google Places. Right now we have under “More about this place” information from Netfirms temporally website when we registered our domain. Our web site is 6 month old but information in Google places is still from Netfirms. I tried “Report a problem” but the link is not available. I tried looking for the answer in Google Places Help and the only answer was to contact or report a problem. Is there a way to update it or request to update? How to do this? Help is appreciated.

Here is the link to the Google Places: http://maps.google.ca/maps/place?um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=printing,+penticton&fb=1&gl=ca&hq=printing,&hnear=Penticton,+BC&cid=1815999403767887502&ei=3gf0TIXsMoy-sQO47Om7Cw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=placepage-link&resnum=7&ved=0CFgQ4gkwBg

Here is the link to the website: printfactory.ca

Thank you.
