Google’s started yet another test with their AdWords listings, by experimenting with a new layout for product specific ads. Google’s been testing specific product listings in their AdWords platform for a while now and it appears that this is yet another variation of this test.
Here’s what the new layout looks like:
Google has been exploring various ways to integrate products from Google Base into AdWords listings since around November 2007. Search Engine Land has a nice rundown of how the test has evolved in this time. Here are some examples:
There’s no doubt these listings will stand out from others, especially when images are included. A Google spokesperson has confirmed the feature which they’re calling the “Adwords Product Plusbox”,
As part of our ongoing commitment to innovation and helping users find the information they’re looking for online, we are testing a feature called the AdWords Product PlusBox, intended to help make information about specific products more easily accessible. For ads associated with products in Google Base, a plusbox can be expanded to display relevant products from that advertiser. The plusbox provides users with more information about an advertiser’s offering even before clicking on the ad, and offers advertisers a new way to engage potential customers. This feature is currently in a limited beta with a small number of advertisers.
If you’ve never heard of Google Base before, it’s basically a platform which lets you publish additional information about the various products your business has for sale. To get started (and potentially be included these tests) visit the Google base help page which will give you all the information you need to know.
