Google Shines With Additional Webmaster Tools

If you thought Google’s Webmaster Toolbox couldn’t get any fuller, well you will have to think again…

Google have added a handful of tools to their collection which includes the ability to block sitelinks for sub pages and review page removal requests made by others and much more.

Here is an overview of the new tools as explained by Google Webmaster Tools Product Manger Sagar Kamdar:

  • Our site selector now lists all verified sites that you own, and allows you to search as you type.
  • You can now block non-homepage sitelinks. Before today if you owned example.com, you couldn’t block sitelinks for example.com/email.

For example, previously for our website (www.ineedhits.com), we would be unable to block sitelinks for sub pages such as www.ineedhits.com/package-deals/package-deals.aspx or www.ineedhits.com/submission/submission-services.aspx .

  • You can now see URL removal requests submitted by other users for any sites you own, and revoke them if necessary. In the past, if another webmaster for your site mistakenly removed a URL on your site and left for vacation it was a difficult process to undo the request.

  • Our “Home” page is much easier to navigate. We now make a clear distinction between verified and unverified sites.

If you have never used Google’s Webmaster Tools before, then I would suggest jumping on the bandwagon as soon as you can. The tools are an easy way to make your site more Google-friendly, which is something all website owners could use in trying to get their site seen in the Google search engine.

My favorite tool is the ability to check what people are using as their search query when looking for your site. It’s amazing the different variations of search queries people come up with. What’s your favorite tool in the Google Webmaster toolkit? Feel free to let us know below.
