Understandably when you search for something online there are those websites that you just don’t want popping up in your results. It would be fantastic if you had some type of control over that no matter what you were searching for.
There once was a feature on Google when you searched for something that would let you block certain websites. This is no longer the case as they have done away with your ability to do that automatically.
The Blocked Sites feature was added by Google to the search results in 2011. At the time, Google said they were doing it so that you could have control over the results you got. Now it seems they no longer want you to have control over what you see. The blocked site hasn’t actually worked for a year without an official announcement that it would no longer be used. Now that they have announced something we already know, we can stop expecting it to finally return.
As an alternative, now you can use the Personal Blocklist Chrome extension in order to block sites you don’t want to see. Basically Google will now keep track of the ones you block easier so they can use it against ranking for websites.
That’s great, if you use the Chrome browser, but what about IE and Firefox users – I guess Google just doesn’t care about them!
