If you’ve been having issues of late verifying Google+ local business listings, then you can rest assured Google is on the case.
They have begun providing telephone support to businesses having issues, which is quite uncommon for the search giant.
Google providing telephone support is almost unheard of for a free service but I guess Google has had to take this step after failing to deliver verifications in the appropriate timeframe.
However, its not as simple as simply being given a number and picking up the phone to call Google, firstly you will need to visit this troubleshooting form and answer a number of questions pertaining to your listing. Depending on the answers you give and the time of the day, Google may allow you to enter your name and phone number so that a Google representative will call you within 60 seconds and help you verify your business listing.
Internet pro Mike Blumenthal was one of the first to spot this feature and share the news on his blog:
Google+ Local had a rough 2012. But it appears that at the start of 2013 there has been at least one upgrade that is worth shouting about (here’s hoping its permanent).
Google is actually providing phone support when a business runs into verification issues.
Just to be sure that you read that correctly, I will repeat it:
Google is actually providing phone support when a business runs into verification issues. And not just phone support but support that is staffed (at least currently) by US based, English speaking personnel.
Since their transition to the Google+ Local ‘system’ there has been trouble followed by more trouble. Merged listings, ‘do not support that location’ messages and just about every iteration of local listing agony one can think of has taken place, so its good news that Google confirmed that this telephone support will be permantent.
So if you’re Google+ Local listing needs to be fixed by Google, the telephone support might just make this an easier task for you to complete.
