Good news for anyone who has a Google Place Page listing – you can now respond to the reviews that people leave in your listing.
Google announced the news on its Lat Long Blog. If you’re a verified Google Places business owner, you can publicly respond to reviews written by Google Maps users on the Place Page for your business.
Whether the review’s you receive are positive or negative, by responding you can build stronger relationships with existing and prospective customers. As a business owner, they also give you the opportunity to learn what areas of your business you do well and what you can improve on.
As Marketing Pilgrim points out, it is not yet known if you can respond to reviews that are imported to the Place Page from third party sites like CitySearch.
Here is an example of how your response will appear in the Maps page.

Google has outlined some ground rules/tips for responding including being polite, thankful and not a salesperson. I would recommend checking out these guidelines and instructions before getting started. Please note: You must be logged into the Google account that verified that listing in order to respond.
So what’s next? If you have a Google Places listing, then why not start interacting with your reviewers of your business. If you don’t have a Google Places listing, then you can claim it here.
