Unconfirmed reports floating around the SEO community suggest that Google has penalized another link network.
The rumors flying around suggest that the link network presently being targeted by Google is SAPE links. In fact, several webmasters who have been using the SAPE link network have reported that their websites have taken several hard penalty hits from Google. It has also been reported that these hits have resulted in a huge downgrade in the ranking on search engines for these websites.
Unfortunately, not all webmasters using the SAPE network agree that it is the cause of the downgrade. Some feel that it may be a completely different network.
Several individuals have attempted to contact Google in order to acquire information regarding the root of the downgrade. Unfortunately, these reports are still unconfirmed as Google has yet to release any information or respond to any emails regarding it.
However, Google’s King of Spam, Matt Cutts, may have inadvertently leaked the news in a recent tweet:

@dannysullivan @seocom just another day at the office for me. Okay, gotta look at some really naughty Russian link selling software now.
*SAPE is a Russian link network
The SEO community knows all too well that this would not be the first time Google has targeted a link network. In fact, Google has penalized several different link networks over the years. One of the most recent link networks to be penalized was the BuildMyRank.com link network.
It’s surprising that webmasters are still taking the gamble and using these link networks after the number of times that Google has targeted them.
Google is very quick to penalize any website who uses this short sighted technique in order to increase the search engine ranking of their website. Why run the risk?
