Google not only want you to search via their search engine, but they also make it easy for businesses to search their online documents and intranet with Enterprise Search.
With over 25,000 Enterprise Search customers this is one area that is growing steadily for Google, so they must continue to improve it. So they have recently launched 2 new tools, one which caught my interest in particular.
Side-by-Side search lets users test and rate results from two different search queries (Policy A vs. Policy B) on the same data, to see which gives better results.
For example if your business uses the Google Search Appliance solution, then employees can vote on their preferred results, by clicking on either the Policy A or Policy B button. Then your administrator can use this information to choose and set up the right search solution for the business.
It also allows you to compare search results from Google Site Search alongside results from any other search engine.
Cyrus Mistry, Product Manager for Google Search Appliance, explains more in the video below:
If you would like to learn more about Side-by-Side search or download the tool then you can do so here.
What I would like to use this tool for is to compare the results for the current Google search engine with its new search engine sandbox. There has been a bit of hype surrounding sandbox and I think it will be interesting to see if it is really any different to the current Google search engine.
What would you do a search comparison on? Feel free to let us know.
