Google AdWords have just announced a partnership with SpotMixer, which will make it easier than ever for small business to get started with TV advertising.
The new partnership allows advertisers to create video commercials for free using a library of stock images and music. You can even upload your own images, video and audio if the template solutions don’t suit your needs. This Google Video explains more:
While the Google TV Ads platform has been around for a while now, it previously required advertisers to have a commercial professionally made before it could be distributed on the platform.
In case you’re not familiar with Google TV Ads, it allows advertisers to create a 15-60 second video advertisement and distribute it on participating US television stations during certain programs or times of the day.
Once an ad has been run, Google’s then allows you to view stats about the campaign including the number of impressions served, the percentage of viewers who watched the entire ad and when viewers changed channels.
One of the biggest barriers for small business to consider TV has been the cost of having a commercial professionally created. With advertisers now able to create their own commercials for free, I imagine there will be a lot more interest in the program.
