Google Adds “Newest Links” List to Webmaster Tools

Posted by @ 6:36 pm

We have some good news for Google Webmaster Tools users- you can now download a list of the most recently acquired links to your website.

The option will download your links that Google Webmaster Tools discovered, the link will be in one column and in the other column lists out the date Google discovered the link.

This feature has been a long time coming with many webmaster asking for it and I would argue it is one of the more useful feature upgrades to the link reporting tool within webmaster tools.

Google’s Matt Cutts was one of the first to share the news of this new feature via Twitter:

You can now download links from Google *sorted by date*. Nice. Look for “Download latest links” in console UI. Pass it on!

Simply click on the “download latest links” button from the “Links to Your Site” section of Google Webmaster Tools and the report will look something like this:

This feature will be a great way to learn when you acquired new links and when Google discovered those new links. Plus it might be helpful in tracking link acquisitions and determining which links might have caused a penalty.
