With all the focus on local search at present, IAC/InterActiveCorp owned Ask.com, is preparing to launch its new local offering aimed at securing its share of the rapidly growing regional search business.

Ask.com has several local orientated services including Citysearch, Ticketmaster and Evite. While the team at Ask has proclaimed these websites are already very integrated, the new plans will see them unite like never before.

The new initiative will be called AskCity, and is scheduled to launch next week sometime. CEO Barry Diller, released the information ahead of schedule (which seems to be his way – poor ask.com PR team) at a recent Reuters Media Summit in New York.

AskCity will integrate content from Web search, city guides, maps and event listings in a single user friendly online environment. Diller suggested it will be incorporated into Ask.com in the latter part of December.

With all the major search players, like Google, Yahoo! and MSN scuttling to release the superlative local search offering, it will be interesting to see who emerges as the winner…

Ask is the slower crowler i think of all. I’m waiting for my site to be indexed for like 25 days, i allready have top 10 rank in Yahoo and top 50 in Google.
