Ask Jeeves Launches in Germany

Ask Jeeves has launched a German language beta version of the search engine under www.ask.de.

Currently, Google is the market leader in Germany with over 80% market share, followed by Yahoo!, MSN Suche, AOL and T-Online . Apart from the top five, all other German search engine account for roughly 5% of market share, and include engines like suche.freenet.de, fireball.de and allesklar.de.

According to figures published on internetworldstats.com, Germany had over 47 million Internet users as of June 2005, which represents 57% of the German population. Germany accounts for roughly 22% of all Internet users in Europe.
